MARSHFIELD – Denise Sonnemann is the new Executive Director of the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry. MACCI’s Board of Directors made the announcement in a March 30 news release.
“It’s my dream job,” Sonnemann told Hub City Times on March 30. “It was just something I’ve always wanted to do. When I was with Main Street I always thought, ‘I would love to run the chamber.’ I think what they do is amazing, how they are such an advocate for our businesses and for our community. I love helping people. I love to see this community grow, and I just have a true passion for that, by making sure that we continue to move forward and not go backwards.
“I’m really looking forward to just being more involved back in the community again,” Sonnemann added. “When I was with Main Street Marshfield I really loved what I did. I was born and raised here, so I want to see the community continue to grow and thrive, so I’m looking forward to getting out in the community to see what we can do to increase awareness, not only of Marshfield and our businesses, but of MACCI in general.”
Sonnemann is a 1993 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School and a 1995 graduate of UW-Marshfield/Wood County, with an Associate’s Degree in Business. She worked as a dispatcher for the Marshfield Police Department from 1997 to 2004. After that Sonnemann was with Donnelley Marketing for several years. She served as Main Street Marshfield Executive Director from October, 2008 to May, 2014. Sonnemann then served as an assistant manager at Marshfield Clinic until early 2020. After a brief stint as Hope Lodge Manager before the facility closed its doors in mid-2020, Sonnemann was the Call Center Supervisor for Mason Companies. She has been working for the past year as branch manager of Prevail Bank in Marshfield.
Sonnemann began her duties at MACCI on April 3. She is the fourth director under the modern-day chamber structure.
