Stratford teen identified as crash victim

MARATHON COUNTY — A Stratford teenager has died, after losing control of his vehicle. The crash occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24 on Highway C several miles west of Highway S, in the Marathon County Town of Green Valley.
According to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department, Antonio J. Verdone, 19, was going east on Highway C, when he drove off the road and struck the embankment of a driveway. Verdone’s vehicle rolled upon impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Complete circumstances of the crash are still under investigation at this time.
Assisting the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office was the Stratford Police and Fire Departments, Green Valley First Responders and the Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Funeral services for Antonio J. Verdone will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield. Friends may call there from 3 p.m. until service time.
Antonio was born on June 16, 2003, in Little Canada, Minnesota, to Todd and Julie Freimund Verdone.
He loved to hunt, fish and be in the outdoors.
He is survived by his parents Todd Verdone and Julie Freimund Verdone and siblings, Angellia, Mario and Jovanni Verdone. He is further survived by his maternal grandmother Mary Freimund Sippl, paternal grandparents, Shirley and Richard Verdone and aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Robert Freimund.
