PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE REQUESTED

CLARK COUNTY – The Clark County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in solving a series of horse shootings over a nine-day period two years ago.

“There were three cases, starting on June 17th , 2020. There was another one on June 18th, 2020, and then June 25th, 2020, that was reported to us, each one where horses were shot on different properties,” according to Capt. Kerry Kirn. “They all died as a result,” he added.

The incidents occurred in the evening hours and are believed to be related. The animals were targeted from the roadway while in pastures on private property. “We don’t have a lot of information on who may have been involved,” according to Kirn. “We’re hoping that somebody out there knows something and contacts us. Maybe somebody talked about it since then.”

Kirn says two of the cases involved Amish families. One incident occurred on Basswood Ave. in the township of Lynn. Another took place on Granton Road, also in Lynn Township. The third incident occurred on Meridian Ave. in the Township of Grant.

Any information can be called in to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (888) 847-2576, Crime Stoppers of Clark County at (877) 341-2416 or communicate your tip through the P3 application, referencing case numbers 2020-8273, 2020-8319 and 2020-8730.
