Not all roads lead to the fair

FOR HUB CITY TIMES
MARSHFIELD – With the “dog days” of summer just ahead, construction projects are entering the home stretch. Those include a two-phase project on E. 17th Street between Peach Ave. and Maple Ave., through the Central Wisconsin State Fairgrounds.

With phase one complete from Peach Ave. to Vine Ave., work has now started on the second half of the project from Vine to Maple. That stretch of E. 17th Street, including the S. Cedar Ave. intersection, will be closed for approximately eight weeks. Dale Christiansen, Executive Director of the Central Wisconsin State Fair – which runs Aug. 23-28 – was hopeful the road work could be wrapped up before the fair begins. “But, we got a contingency plan as to how things are going to work if it isn’t done,” Christiansen said. City Engineer Tom Turchi said that section of E. 17th will be closed during the fair.
Earth Inc., Arpin, is the general contractor for the project. If there are questions concerning this or other traffic control matters within the city, you’re asked to contact the Engineering Division at (715) 486-2034.
