Hometown: Granton

High school attended: Granton Area High School

Current program or major: second year, undecided

Why did you choose UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield?

I chose UWSP at Marshfield for several reasons. I was undecided and knew that it would be easier for me to do my generals here in Marshfield. I can commute from home, which saves me a good amount of money. Lastly, I can play basketball, which has been a great experience this year.

What surprised you the most about the university when you arrived on campus?

Coming from a small school, I thought it would be difficult to get around. Instead, I found it is very easy to find classrooms and other places on this campus.

How or when did you discover your purpose? How did UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield faculty/staff help?

I know that my purpose in life is to be a leader. While I am undecided as to what I fully want to do,the great thing about Marshfield is that the faculty takes time to care about you individually.

Why did you choose your program/major?

I am still currently undecided as to my major, but the experiences I have had at Marshfield have gotten me closer to deciding.

Who has been your favorite professor or staff member?

My favorite professor has been Professor Gunderson on the Wausau campus. He livens up the subject he is teaching, and it feels natural and enjoyable.

In addition to being a college student, what takes up your free time?

I play basketball for the Marshfield Marauders, which takes up some of my free time. I also enjoy playing video games and going to other sporting events.

What do you plan to do after attending UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield?

My plan is to go either to the main campus in Stevens Point or to Eau Claire to further my education.

To make the most of their college experience, what advice do you have for incomingstudents?

Being involved in your education and other programs can help you make the most of it. For me, that was basketball. If you have a hobby that you enjoy, chances are there is something for you here or wherever you end up going. As stressful as it can be, take time to enjoy every moment.
