Committee works on Marshfield Memories Volume II, seeks photo submissions
For the Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD – In conjunction with Marshfield’s 150th anniversary, a committee has been formed to gather content and publish a second volume of Marshfield Memories.
The first volume was produced as a collaboration between Hub City Times, Pediment Publishing, Marshfield Historic Preservation Association, Marshfield Public Library, and North Wood County Historical Society (NWCHS.)
Volume II will serve as a fundraiser for the North Wood County Historical Society, in association with Hub City Times. All proceeds will benefit the historical society.
In the upcoming weeks, the committee will be working to gather photos of the various corner grocery stores that once existed in the city of Marshfield. They are looking for photos during the time period of 1940-2000.
If you have photos that fit this criteria, please bring them to the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library, Genealogy Room, 105 S. Maple Ave., Marshfield, on Tuesdays, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. or the Upham Mansion/North Wood County Historical Society, 212 W. Third St., Marshfield, on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. or 1:30-4 p.m. or Saturdays 1:30-4 p.m., for scanning before March 23.
Future collecting periods will include photos featuring school activities, students, and facilities; Marshfield Brewery and city bars; businesses; city parks; Wildwood Zoo; Marshfield fairgrounds activities; neighborhoods and streets; city sports; and city activities and celebrations. Collection will continue through the end of July.
If you are submitting something during the current collection period and wish to bring in photos for future categories, you are welcome to bring them along so you only need to make one visit.
The committee anticipates pre-sales this fall, with publication in November.
