PITTSVILLE – The Pittsville School District will host an Empty Bowl event on March 8.

Enjoy a simple to-go supper of soup made (and donated) by our local restaurants and caterers plus bread, milk, and a cookie.

Paying the suggested meal price will  benefit Pittsville Area Neighbors Shelf, or PANS, the community’s local food pantry. PANS is a non-profit, charitable organization, that distributes food to local families who have difficulty purchasing enough food to avoid hunger.

“In return, take home a one of a kind, handmade pottery bowl created by Pittsville students and community potters. About 31 students and four community members have been throwing and glazing bowls since October to prepare for this year’s event.  The bowl you take home is a reminder of all the empty bowls there are in the world,” an event release stated.

“This year, we are offering a ‘To-Go’ Soup Dinner. We will not be opening up the cafeteria for guests to dine in. There will be an art show displayed throughout the elementary school halls (in the past the art show was in the administrative lobby area) and each dinner still comes with a pottery bowl of your choice.”

The event will take place at Pittsville Elementary School on March 8, 4-7 p.m.
