Why did you choose UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield?

I chose UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield because it was less expensive for me, and it was close to home. It also gives me an opportunity to get as many classes as I need to get done before I transfer out and finish my major.

What surprised you the most about the university when you arrived on campus?

What surprised me the most was the number of scholarships I could apply for. I was also surprised how all the teachers are so personable and always so helpful whenever you need it. The class sizessurprised me as well; you get so much one-on-one help if you need.

How or when did you discover your purpose? How did UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield faculty/staff help?

I discovered my passion for teaching while I was in schoolbecause many teachers inspired me. They showed me that I can make a difference in a child’s life just in school. They also would tell me I would be a great teacher because I was always good with other students and would help the special needs children if they were in my class, because they would get along with me. The staff here provided me with a safe learning environment to reach my goal.

Why did you choose your program/major?

I chose mymajor because I love children and I have always wanted to be a teacher since I was little. Being a teacher has always been a dream, I want to help as many children with school as much as I can. I also have a big family, with four younger sisters and two older brothers. I would always have to help them with homework, and it has shown me what I will have to do while I am a teacher.

Who has been your favorite professor or staff member?

My favorite staff members have been Michelle (Boernke) and Ashley (Masephol). They are always so friendly and happy to help whenever you need help.

In addition to being a college student, what takes up your free time?

Hanging out with friends and working to pay for college. I also like to run, go on walks and bike.

What do you plan to do after attending UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield?

I plan to attend UW-Stevens Point next fall and continue my education there. Once I finish there, I want to try to find a teaching job around my hometown or a job right at the school I attended when I was younger.

To make the most of their college experience, what advice do you have for incoming students?

My advice for incoming students is to get involved in the school and try new things to come out of your shell. Make new friends.Try the athletics that they offer, be a student ambassador or get on the school senate. There are also many different employment opportunities throughout the school.
