Nine Columbus athletes earn CWC soccer honors

Grant Olson is player of the year

MARSHFIELD – Nine Columbus athletes have earned 2021 all-conference soccer honors in the Central Wisconsin Conference.

Junior Grant Olson was a unanimous first-team all-conference selection in midfield, while Columbus Sophomore Alex Edwards was a unanimous first-team selection at forward.

Other first-team selections include Sammy Neville, senior, and Brandon Lang, junior.

Second team selections for Columbus were Lucas Kreklau, sophomore, at goalie, and Mira Torbey, junior, at midfield.

Honorable mentions went to Cy Becker, sophomore, at defense; Charlie Moore, sophomore, at midfield; and Brianna Duda, senior, at defense.

Grant Olson was also named player of the year for the conference, while Columbus Coach Jeff Edwards shared co-coach of the year accolades with Franklin Webb, Newman Catholic.
