Make a Difference Day is Oct. 23

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Area United Way is seeking volunteers to participate in National Make a Difference Day, held this year on Oct. 23, 8:30 a.m. – noon.
Participants will be raking leaves for elderly and disabled Marshfield residents in need of assistance with their yards.
“Make A Difference Day is a great event to help the community we call home with close family, friends, church groups and/or co-workers. You can make all the difference with a little bit of time, a little bit of muscle and a lot of heart for Marshfield residents who are physically unable to rake their lawns themselves,” a United Way release stated.
Volunteers can register at volunteermarshfield.org, or contact [email protected] or 715-384-9992.
“Volunteers are asked to register in advance so United Way can estimate how many lawns can be raked during the event. United Way asks that volunteers bring their own rakes and have their own transportation. A light snack and water will be provided,” the release added.
Residents in need of assistance with their lawns should call United Way prior to Oct.15 to see if they qualify for assistance. Anyone receiving help on this day must be home on the morning of Oct. 23 and provide enough leaf bags for their lawn.
