It’s open! Vandehey Waters Outdoor Aquatic Center begins new era
For the Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD – Marshfield on July 23 turned the page on a new era of recreation. The new Vandehey Waters Outdoor Aquatic Center opened for the first time to the general public. Jon Vandehey—whose family was the major private donor for the project—called it a great day for the city of Marshfield.
Jon and Annette Vandehey donated more than $1 million in memory and honor of Jon’s parents Frank and Pat Vandehey.
The replacement for the former Hefko Pool opened at 3 p.m. on July 23, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the nearly seven-million dollar facility. Almost half of the money was generated through private donations. Stacey Schultz handled the contributions at the Marshfield Area Community Foundation, and said many people donated to the project for various reasons.
City Parks & Recreation Director Justin Casperson.
The new Vandehey Waters aquatic center is open daily from noon to 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 7 p.m.
