MARSHFIELD – A 31-year-old Madison man and a 26-year-old Janesville woman were taken into custody after a high-speed pursuit through the center of Marshfield. The incident occurred June 30 on State Highway 13/ Veterans Parkway.

“The vehicle had been involved in a gas drive off earlier in the day in Marshfield and was identified at that time as a stolen vehicle from Madison. The vehicle was spotted by Spencer Police and followed toward Marshfield on State Highway 13 until other officers were present to participate in stopping the vehicle,” a Marshfield Police Department release stated.

“The vehicle did not stop when officers activated their emergency lights and sirens. It accelerated to speeds nearing 90 miles per hour and drove in oncoming lanes of traffic.

“Tire deflation devices and pursuit intervention techniques were used by officers to attempt to stop the pursuit.

The vehicle became disabled on State Highway 13/East Veterans Parkway near South Palmetto Avenue; there the driver and passenger were arrested.

“Eighty-one grams of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) were recovered from the vehicle and female subject,” the release added.

“The male is being charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent, Operating While Intoxicated, Operating After Suspension, Reckless Driving, Knowingly Fleeing an Officer, Possession with Intent to Deliver MDMA (Ecstasy), Possession of THC, Bail Jumping, and a Probation Hold.

“The female’s charges are still under review at the time of this release.”

Wood County Sheriff’s deputies assisted the Marshfield Police in the case.
