For the Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD – Jerry Lang is being recognized for his many contributions to local agriculture. The Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Agri-Business Committee has awarded Lang its annual 2021 “Friend of Agriculture” award.
The group will present the award to Lang’s family during its annual Dairyfest breakfast tomorrow morning at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
The 79-year-old Lang died unexpectedly April 5 while tending to a grass fire near his town of Marshfield home.
Among other things, Lang was involved in the Central Wisconsin State Fair, serving on the Fair Board and Junior Fair Board for many years. He was an open-class fair exhibitor for 65 years, a longtime 4-H leader in Wood County, he founded the Central Wisconsin State Fair’s annual Dress a Cow contest, and he chaperoned annual trips to the State Fair.
The annual “Friend of Ag” award recognizes individuals, organizations and businesses in the Marshfield area for their support of the agricultural industry.
