More counterfeit $100 bills surface in Marshfield
For the Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD – Marshfield police have discovered more counterfeit cash in the city. After two fake $100 bills surfaced in the city last week at Rogan’s Shoes, police responded to Fleet Farm on May 23, where staff members reported a similar discovery.
A store manager placed $100 bills used for payment between May 16-23 into a “drop” system to scan them, and six bills were rejected as counterfeit. The bills were taken as evidence and photographed.
A similar incident was reported last week by staff at Rogan’s Shoes, where a man bought two pairs of shoes from the business, and paid with a pair of fake $100 bills. The man purchased shoes totaling $126.59 and was given $73.41 in change.
Rogan’s reported that incident May 19, when staff realized the bills were not real. The police report says closed-circuit television cameras captured video of the suspect, and efforts to identify the man are underway.
Investigators believe the suspect in the Fleet Farm case is the same individual.
