WDLB adds new FM station
For the Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD – A new FM radio station will be on the air in central Wisconsin in the next week. Seehafer Broadcasting will begin airing WDLB-AM over an FM frequency, to be known as WDLB-FM, at 98.7 on the FM dial.
The new station will air from an antenna at the WDLB transmitter site, north of Marshfield, and will have 200 watts of power with an antenna height of 400 feet. This should provide clear reception of WDLB on the FM dial to listeners within 20 miles of the transmitter site.
Like many AM stations, WDLB deals with interference of its signal at night, reducing its coverage area. The new FM station should provide clear reception of the WDLB air signal to many communities in Wood, Marathon and Clark counties that normally struggle to hear the station, especially at night.
Seehafer Broadcasting hopes to have WDLB-FM fully functional by May 14.
