Marshfield girls track team grabs top spots in first two meets

SCHOFIELD – The Marshfield Tigers girls track team took second place during their first season meet – the D.C. Everest Girls Track Quadrangular – at Stiehm Stadium on April 30.
Marshfield had 17 top three finishes.
Top finishes came from Leah Brown in the 400 meters event at 1:06.29, Eliana Kanitz in the 3,200 meters at 13:01.81, Danielle Minsaas in the high jump at 5 feet, 1 inch, and the 400 relay team of Alexia Daul , Peyton Daul, Ariana Smith, and Ellie Jensen.
Second-place finishes were from Rylee Corteen in the 400 meters at 1:08.54, Kairi Kim in the 3,200 meters at 13:13.67, Lizzie Hanson in the 100 hurdles at 18.27, Michaela Dick in the 300 hurdles at 52.04, and Sophie Nikolay in the pole vault at 39 feet, 6 inches, along with the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 relay teams.
The D.C. Everest team won with 129 points, Stevens Point was third with 28, and Wisconsin Rapids was fourth with 17.
First Heiting Community Stadium meet
On May 3, the Tigers took the title in the first home meet of the season. The Tigers took nine events.
Nikolay took first in the pole vault at 10 feet. Ava Baka won in the long jump at 14-6. Aubri Brown won in discus at 96-3.5. Lizzie Hanson was first in the 100-meter hurdles with 17.37. Olivia Page took the 100 at 13.88. Meghan Jaeger won in the 3,200 meter with 13:03.08. The 400 relay team of Jensen, Smith, Nikolay and Tayllor Thompson took first at 54.09. The 800 relaye team of Dick, Jensen, Nikolay, and L. Brown won with 1:54.22. The 1,600 relay team of Dick, Rylee Corteen, Eliana Kanitz, and Jerica Mueller took the lead with 4:23.62.
The Tigers finished with 113 points. Stevens Point came in second, with 74.5; Merrill was in third, with 45.5; and Wausau East was fourth, with 25.
