Purgett and UW-W bowling team headed to USBC championships

WHITEWATER – Marshfield graduate Taylor Purgett and the 2021 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team has punched their ticket to the United States Bowling Congress’ Intercollegiate Team Championships, placing fourth at the ITC Addison Sectional at Stardust Bowl in Addison, IL, on April 18.

The Warhawks claimed the fourth and final qualifying spot from the sectional, moving up from fifth place after the first day of competition and erasing a 131-pin deficit on the final day. UW-W finished Sunday’s second block with a score of 3,836 to total 7,587 for the weekend over a span of 40 Baker games.
UW-Whitewater will compete at the Intercollegiate Team Championships for the first time since the 2016-17 season. This year’s ITC is scheduled for May 5-8 at Spectrum Entertainment Complex in Wyoming, MI.
Purgett also participated in the singles tournament hosted April 16, where she bowled a 1122 in six games, placing 27th out of 135 women.
Purgett is a junior at UW-Whitewater majoring in criminology.
