Longtime community advocate dies at 79

MARSHFIELD – Funeral services for Jerry “Jer” Lang, 79, will be held April 11 at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield.
Jerry Lang died tragically on April 5, the victim of a controlled burn near his home in the town of Marshfield.
Jer Lang was a 1960 graduate of Columbus High School and a veteran of the U-S Army.
His list of involvement in the community is long. Among other things, he was involved in the Central Wisconsin State Fair, serving on the fair board and Junior Fair Board for many years. He also chaperoned annual trips to the state fair.
He was involved in the development of the Marshfield Youth Wrestling Program in the mid-1980s. In 2006, he began his involvement with St. Vincent de Paul as a volunteer. Lang was also instrumental in building the Transitional Shelter.
Memorials may be designated in Jerry’s name to Corpus Christi Catholic Church for maintenance and other building items.
Friends may call at Sacred Heart Church Saturday from 6:30-9 p.m. and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Rembs Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
