Ruesch named Abbotsford Lions Club Student of the Quarter

ABBOTSFORD – Abbotsford High School senior Mya Ruesch has been named the Abbotsford Lions Club Student of the Quarter for the third quarter of the 2020-21 school year.
Ruesch carries a rigorous class schedule that includes NTC Dual-Credit English. Games with Implements, Independent Art and Design, Trigonometry, Chemistry, and Mixed Choir. She has participated in many co-curricular activities, including National Honor Society, Student Senate (current Vice President), FFA, FBLA, FCCLA, BLAST, and Show Choir. She is a member of the volleyball, basketball and track teams.
Student Senate Advisor Sara Halpin, recommended her for the Student-of-the-Quarter award.
“Mya is an extraordinary student,” Halpin stated. “She is dedicated to her academics and her extracurricular activities by putting in 100 percent effort in each area. She has role modeled leadership and collaboration; I have witnessed many examples of her diligence, work ethic, and willingness to serve her community and school. There is no better candidate for this award than Mya.”
Ruesch has been actively involved in assisting at Abbotsford Lion’s brunches and tree planting projects, dairy breakfasts, and youth basketball, volleyball, and wrestling tournaments.
Mya babysits and works on the family farm. After graduation, she plans to attend UW-River Falls, majoring in elementary education, with plans to become a second grade teacher.
Mya is the daughter of David and Rebecca Ruesch, Abbotsford.
