WOOD COUNTY – Wood County investigators have identified partial skeletal remains as those of a missing Marshfield man.
Wood County Sheriff Shawn Becker says the remains discovered this week in the town of Rock southwest of Marshfield belong to Zachary Lee Vasa, who was last seen in June of 2020.
Sheriff Becker says the search for the rest of Vasa’s remains continues.
While Vasa’s death has not been ruled a homicide, Becker says that’s how they’re treating the investigation.
Becker says investigators have not determined a cause of death.
He says investigators are still searching the area and interviewing people, all while trying to establish Vasa’s whereabouts leading up to his death.
Vasa’s remains were found in the area of Fairhaven Avenue and Patton Drive, along with clothing and some personal items as well.
The 32-year-old Vasa was last seen visiting a Marshfield home on June 13 of last year. Vasa left the home and did not tell anyone where he was going.
