Updated Story: Victim named in Marathon County homicide

MARATHON COUNTY –The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office is releasing more information in the homicide investigation in the town of Spencer.
On Dec. 29, at about 2:15 p.m., the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office and Spencer Police responded to the report of a deceased man on the south end of Abe Lincoln Avenue, just south of Swamp Road in the town of Spencer.
The body was discovered by a fur trapper in the McMillan Marsh Wildlife area.
The victim was identified as Christian C. Schauer, 20, of Marshfield.
“Foul play is suspected and the incident is being investigated as a homicide by the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office and the Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office,” a sheriff’s office release stated.
“We are asking the public to be on the lookout for a black 2005 Chevrolet Impala with license plate AHT6900. If located, please use caution as the occupant(s) may be armed and dangerous. If anyone has information about the incident, or the related vehicle, please contact the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office at 715-261-1200, option 1, or anonymously through the Marathon County Crime stoppers at marathoncountycrimestoppers.org.”
An autopsy as been scheduled and no other information will be released at this time.

MARATHON COUNTY – Police are investigating an apparent homicide after trappers discovered a body that appeared to have been dumped in the Marathon County town of Spencer.
Trappers working near Abe Lincoln Avenue and Swamp Road made the gruesome discovery on Dec. 29 and called police.
Officials are seeking a black 2005 Chevy Impala bearing the Wisconsin license plate AHT-6900 but have not said what role the vehicle could have played in the death.
Autopsy results are pending. More information is expected today.
