STEVENS POINT – Marshfield Clinic Health System will expand its presence in the Stevens Point community with the construction of a more than 48,000 square foot hospital attached to its existing clinic at 4100 State Highway 66. The hospital will break ground in December and is expected to open for patient care in spring 2022.

“We’ve served the Stevens Point community for nearly 30 years, including opening a state-of-the-art cancer center in 2017. With today’s announcement, we are poised to bring an even broader array of medical services to the residents of this wonderful community,” said Dr. Susan Turney, Marshfield Clinic Health System CEO. “This hospital will help us deliver on our promise of providing excellent care close to home for our patients. We are grateful for this opportunity to serve Stevens Point and surrounding communities.”

In addition to offering a full spectrum of cancer care, the Health System’s Stevens Point Center offers adult and pediatric primary and specialty care, urgent care, lab and optical. The expanded hospital campus will add 12 inpatient rooms, a surgical suite with operating rooms, emergency department, imaging and laboratory space and more.

Marshfield Clinic has continually expanded its services in the Stevens Point community.  In 2013, Marshfield Clinic opened its doors to the new Stevens Point Center. In 2017, the cancer center was built to provide oncology/hematology and radiation oncology services, as well as access to dozens of cancer-related clinical trials and services.  In 2019, urgent care service debuted at Stevens Point Center allowing people access to more immediate health care.

Additionally, the Health System and the UW Stevens Point have a collaborative partnership to expand educational programs to develop the future healthcare workforce, and the Health System is the exclusive sports medicine partner to care for the school’s 500-plus athletes and 20 sports teams.
