TOWN OF ROME – The body of a missing bicyclist from Marshfield was found on Sept. 6. The town of Rome Police Department says Dale M. Larson was found near the Wood-Adams county line, east of County Highway Z.

According to the Rome Police Department, Wings of Hope found Larson in a heavily wooded area.

“Our Dad’s body was recovered this morning around 11:30 a.m. It appears he stopped to take a break down by a creek in a heavily wooded area. He was found with his bike sitting close by. By all indications, he passed peacefully,” Dale’s son, Andrew said in a Facebook post.

A Silver Alert had been issued Aug. 28 for Larson, after he left on his bike and was last seen at the 1400 block of Rapids Trail. Police said he had dementia and was insulin dependent.

Wings of Hope searched through the week and found him around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.

The Rome Police Department was assisted by the Wood and Adams County sheriff’s departments; Wood County Rescue; the Nekoosa Police Department; Rome, Big Flats, Nekoosa, and Adams fire departments; Nekoosa Ambulance; Wisconsin State Patrol; Life Link III helicopter; the Army National Guard; the Civil Air Patrol; the DNR; Wings of Hope; and Wisconsin Emergency Management.
