WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce and Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry are partnering to host an employment and resource fair.

This fair will include potential jobs along with health and mental wellness, insurance, financial planning, and training resources.

“After the recent announcements of Verso Corporation idling the local Mill and Ho-Chunk Gaming Nekoosa issuing permanent layoffs, the two chambers are spearheading an area-wide fair,” an event release stated.

“The goal is to help connect employers with job seekers and also help the job seekers with other resources they will need during this time of transition,” Heart of Wisconsin Chamber Vice President Krista Coon explained.

The fair will be held on Sept. 2, noon – 6 p.m., and Sept. 3, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Employer booths will be set up in the East Junior High School Field House off Sixth Street in Wisconsin Rapids.

“Nearly 50 businesses will be on-site recruiting for professional, technical, and service-related job opportunities. In addition to jobs, educational and resource organizations will also be available to provide career exploration skill development information. This will be a one-stop event to explore many jobs available in the area. The organizations will also have a virtual component for those who cannot attend in person,” an event release stated.

“There is no fee for the public to attend these sessions. If you or someone you know is looking for an exciting new career, be sure to come to this event.

“For the safety of job seekers, employers, and sponsors, COVID safety will be implemented including physical distancing and hand washing/sanitizing stations. Masks are recommended.”

Businesses looking to secure a booth can visit www.wisconsinrapidschamber.com/events.
