WOOD COUNTY – The names of the victims have been released in a town of Sigel accident that left one dead and two injured.

On June 14, shortly before noon, the Wood County Sheriff’s Department responded to a crash at the intersection of State Highway 73 and State Highway 186.

During the investigation, deputies learned that a dump truck being driven by Ronald C. Gallon, 70, of Stevens Point, was heading south on State Highway 186 and failed to yield at a stop sign for a westbound vehicle on State Highway 73.

The three occupants of the passenger car were trapped in the vehicle. The driver, Courtney Weichart, 28, Manitowoc, and a juvenile passenger sustained serious injuries and were transported to Marshfield Medical Center by Life Link and Wisconsin Rapids Ambulance, respectively.

The front passenger, identified as William P. Walsdorf, 32, Manitowoc, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gallon sustained minor injuries.

State Highway 73 and State Highway 186 were closed following the accident.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Wisconsin State Patrol, Vesper Fire Department, United Ambulance, Wisconsin Rapids Ambulance, Life Link Ill, Wood County Highway Department, and the Wood County Coroner.
