New information released in Wood County COVID death

WOOD COUNTY – The Wood County Health Department and Wood County Coroner is releasing new information on the May 22 COVID death.

“The department has become aware of underlying health conditions that were not previously disclosed, but were identified by the Wood County Coroner,” a department release said.

“After reviewing medical records, this individual had health conditions that contributed to the person’s death along with COVID-19. These health conditions were not disclosed to the health department during the time of case interview.”

The Wood County Health Department has completed a contact investigation and notified those who were in contact with the individual.

The death involved an individual in their 30s and was the first COVID-related death in Wood County.
