Victims identified in Wood County crash

WOOD COUNTY – The victims of a town of Auburndale crash have been identified.

Officials say that Kenneth P. Szaflarski, 59, of Marshfield, and Tia S. Garcia, 48, Spencer, died following a May 14 two-vehicle crash.

The crash occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on State Highway 10 at County Highway K in the township of Auburndale.

According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, a pickup truck driven by Cory J. Mallow, 32, was going west on State Highway 10 when he collided with a southbound car on County Highway K driven by Garcia. She and her passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

Mallow, and his passenger, Ethan A. Chadwick, 30, of Arpin, sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
