MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Common Council voted 8-2 during the May 14 special common council meeting to maintain the order of the Governor’s Safer at Home Order No. 28 for the opening of city-owned facilities to the public. The common council will revisit the issue with a report from the city administrator at the next common council meeting on May 26 at 6 p.m., on how the city will possibly begin to open up city facilities to the public.

Department/division head staff members are already in the process of making arrangements and developing a solid plan that will be shared to the Council at the next meeting, according to City Administrator Steve Barg.

“We need to make sure our employees and our citizens are safe once we open our facilities back up to the public,”said Barg.

Many of the services the City provides has continued during the Safer at Home Order No. 28, but if the public have questions about services, please reach out by visiting ci.marshfield.wi.us or call 715-486-2000.

A mailbox is located outside of the Marshfield City Hall during normal business hours, Monday -Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., if items need to be dropped off.

A doorbell is located on the outside of the building by the mailbox in case anyone needs to contact an administrative assistant inside City Hall. Items intended for departments not located in City Hall will be delivered to each department.

Throughout the process of opening city facilities to the public and events, please watch for new information, which will be made available through various channels of communications such as official city Facebook pages, online newsletter “Connections”, city website at ci.marshfield.wi.us, City Cable Channel 991, local media outlets that publish official city news releases, signage on our entry doors, etc.

Also, keep in mind we encourage public comment during our committee, commission and board meetings by individuals sending a letter, email or asking to be present at the meeting, 24 hours in advance of when the meeting takes place.  Instructions for making a public comment at a public meeting are located in the agenda.

In addition, only at common council meetings, we also provide public comment during the live meeting by calling 715-207-0370, which is at the beginning of the meeting.  You can watch meetings live on our city website at ci.marshfield.wi.us or through our Facebook Page at https:// www.facebook.com/CityofMarshfieldWI.
