TOWN OF RICHFIELD – Multiple local fire departments responded to an April 22 fire at a town of Richfield home.

At approximately 3:47 a.m., the Richfield Rural Fire Department was dispatched to 8731 County Road A, in the town of Richfield, after a passerby called in the report of a house fire.

Upon arrival firefighters found flames shooting out of the eaves on the north side of the single-story house. The fire was quickly extinguished by fire personnel and an interior search found that no one was in the residence at the time of the fire.

The house suffered severe damage to the kitchen area, north wall, and attic area, with minor damage to the bedroom. Firefighters were able to save all the contents that were in the bedroom.

The residence is a rental property and the new renters were in the process of moving in but were not yet staying at the residence.

Fire units cleared the scene at 5:54 a.m. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was electrical in nature and foul play is not expected.

Fire Departments assisting Richfield were Arpin, Cameron, Hewitt Area, and members of the Wood County Central Rapid Intervention Team from Pittsville, Vesper, and Lincoln fire departments. Additional assistance was provided by Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Wood County Dispatch Center, and Alliant Energy.
