MARSHFIELD – Marshfield officials have agreed to start holding city meetings again. With outgoing Alderman Steve Mac Swain abstaining, the common council voted 9-0 on April 14 to resume city meetings. Smaller gatherings to be held in person, if possible, while council meetings will give aldermen and department heads a virtual option for those who choose.
Alderman Tom Witzel said governing bodies should meet in person.
Marshfield Utilities General Manager Nick Kumm said he wasn’t willing to open the utility office to the public just yet.
The April 14 meeting was conducted using Zoom video conferencing, with Mayor Bob McManus and Aldermen Witzel and Chris Jockheck in the Council Chambers at City Hall, while the rest of the council checked in from their homes and city department heads logged in from their offices. The meeting was the first for city government since March 19.
