Marshfield art teacher to be featured on Netflix show

Shelisa Schmidt, a Marshfield elementary art teacher, will be featured on Season Four of the Netflix original series, “Nailed It!,” on April 1.
Nailed It! Is a series that captures “Home bakers with a terrible track record take a crack at re-creating edible masterpieces for a $10,000 prize.”
Shelisa says, “I’ve always watched the show since it aired and I always joked to my husband Chris that I should be on it. Everyone that knows me, knows that I’m a creative, colorful, out of the box person, but when it comes to baking, I’m the worst! You think I’d be better at it since I have art skills, but that’s a whole different level,”
Schmidt randomly emailed the show with some photos and a brief description of who she was. She said she had forgotten she had even sent the email until she received a reply three months later.
Shelisa said it was about six months worth of applications, submissions, phone interviews, and video interviews. “It was crazy! Finally I was chosen officially and flew to California last June,” she recalled.
“Most of all,” Shelisa says, “I am really excited for all my students to see it; I’m a K-6 art teacher. It’s sad that we won’t be in school for this, but oh well. It has been really hard to keep this a secret, but now that the trailer came out, I can finally tell people.”
You can watch the trailer for the upcoming season on Netflix.
