Stratford boys headed to sectionals

MARSHFIELD – After defeating Pacelli on March 6 and Neillsville on March 7, the Stratford Tigers basketball team is headed to sectionals on March 12.
The regional champions first defeated Pacelli at home for the regional semifinal game. The Tigers outscored the Cardinals 41-13 in the first half, but were topped in the second half by two. Stratford won the game, 66-40, to move onto the regional championship against Neillsville.
Stratford hosted the regional final game against Neillsville on March 7. The undefeated Tigers didn’t waste time and were up 36-20 in the first half. The second half didn’t slow them down and they won the regional championship 71-36 over the Warriors.
Over the two regional games, Stratford was led by Vaugn Breit totalling 32 points, Ben Barten put up 23 points, and Dawson Danen had 22.
Stratford will face Marawood Conference rival Auburndale for their third match of the season, at the sectional game on March 12 at Wausau West High School.
