Almond-Bancroft boys fall to Pittsville in regional championship

MARSHFIELD – The Pittsville Panthers traveled to Almond-Bancroft High School on March 7 to take on their Central Wisconsin South conference rival, Eagles, for the Division 5 regional championship game.
The teams split their previous two matchups in the regular season. Almond-Bancroft finished 10-2 in conference, and Pittsville finished 7-5.
The first half of the game was an even battle as both teams had 27 going into the locker room at the half.
In the second half, Pittsville started to pull away from the Eagles and ended with a 62-49 win.
Matthew Kissner led the Panthers with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Landyn Wayerski put up 17, and Jordan Denniston had 10 for the Panthers.
Almond-Bancroft stats were not available.
Pittsville will face Rib Lake at D.C. Everest on March 12 for the first game of sectionals. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
