Newman Catholic and Auburndale end regular season play in Wausau

WAUSAU – The Wausau Newman boys basketball team hosted a Marawood Conference game on Feb. 27. In their final regular season matchup, Auburndale grabbed an 86-46 win.

Cooper Weinfurter scored a career-high 38 points in the contest. He made nine 3-pointers in the contest. Teammate Fletcher Raab hit four of his own 3-pointers and had 18 points with Hunter Wright adding 11 of his own.

Isaac Seidel of Newman Catholic scored 11 points for the Cardinals. Mason Prey and Ben Bates each added 10 points in the game. Charlie McCarty pulled down 11 rebounds for his team.

Auburndale finished the season with a 13-3 record in the conference and 18-4 overall. Newman Catholic finishes 3-13 in conference action and 4-18 overall.

Newman will face Port Edwards on the road for game one of regional play on March 3. Auburndale has a first round bye and will host a regional game on March 6.
