Neillsville stays on top after win at Columbus

MARSHFIELD – The Neillsville Warriors boys basketball team remains at the top of the Cloverbelt Conference after a win at Columbus Catholic High School on Feb. 24.
The 14-1 Neillsville team took on the 8-7 Columbus Dons in a conference game; the Warrior boys won the game 68-55.
Neillsville had a demanding lead at the half of 38-22 and continued their dominating performance throughout the second half.
Leading the night in scoring was Columbus’ Cole Noreen, with 23 points. Eden Jacobson added 14.
Neillsville was led by Monte Diestler, who scored 19 points. Josiah Katcher put up 15 points; Drew Brown had 14; and Braden Trunkel added 13.
Neillsville stayed at the top of the conference leaderboard – tied with Spencer. Both teams were 15-1. Columbus fell to 8-8 in the conference and was tied for third in the conference with Colby.
Columbus hosts McDonnell Central in a Cloverbelt crossover game on Feb. 27.
Neillsville will also host a crossover game on Feb. 27; opposing team has yet to be determined.
