STRATFORD – The Wisconsin Rapids Assumption girls basketball team traveled to Stratford on Feb. 20 for a conference game, where a low-scoring first half led to a 41-23 Royals loss.

The first half started out slow, but the Stratford Tigers girls basketball team hit their stride and held Assumption to only 10 points in the first half, with a 25-10 score at halftime.

The second half was a slow scoring battle for both teams. Assumption made up a little ground in the beginning of the second half when Stratford couldn’t find a way to on the scoreboard. The Tigers outscored the Royals by three in the second half, 16-13, to get the win.

Breanna Ackley led the Tigers in scoring for the night with 18 points. Jessie Grundhoffer led the Royals with 14.

Stratford hosts Spencer for a regional game on Feb. 25 and Assumption hosts Athens on Feb. 25.
