MARSHFIELD – Columbus Catholic Schools will host the regional Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) Solo & Ensemble Festival on Feb. 21. The event will take place at Columbus Catholic High/Middle School 8a.m.-4 p.m. and open to the public, with concessions available 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

High school and middle school music students compete in the festival, including schools from Auburndale, Edgar, Marshfield, Wausau, and Wisconsin Rapids.

“Solo & Ensemble is a wonderful opportunity for growth in the field of middle school and high school music,” said Tom Zimmerman, Columbus band teacher. “We are able to hear not only the many gifts and talents of our students but we also get to see the hard work and practice our students have dedicated to growing their gifts and talents.”

According to WSMA’s website, Solo & Ensemble Festivals draw more than 100,000 students each year, representing every county in the state of Wisconsin. Those who perform at the highest level – Class A – have the opportunity to advance to the State Solo and Ensemble Festival.

For more information, contact Zimmerman at 715-387-1177 or [email protected].
