West hockey shuts out Marshfield

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield hosted a Wisconsin Valley Conference hockey game against the first place Wausau West Warriors on Feb. 11 where the Warriors shutout Marshfield 6-0.

The conference-leading Warriors scored their first goal later in the first period, with a shot made by Marc Sippel, assisted by Carson Marquardt. Also scoring in the first period for Wausau West was Cade Gruber, with assists from Connor Wendall and Grant Halmstad.

In the second period Wausau West scored three more goals, by Jacob Cebula, with an assist from Thomas Gerum; Conner Healy, with an assist from Wendall; and the fifth goal was scored when West was short-handed during a penalty and was made by Carson Marquardt, assisted by Lucas Langlois.

The third period brought one more goal for the Warriors, this time from Cole Hannes; Jake Bailey and Marquardt assisted.

Kyler Bosley, goalie for Wausau West, had 13 saves on the night. AJ Trierweiler had 38 saves.

Wausau West remained undefeated in the WVC with a 9-0 record, 19-3 overall. Marshfield’s record fell to 9-4 in the conference and 12-10-1 overall.

Next up for Marshfield is D.C. Everest on Feb. 13 in Schofield. Wausau West will face SPASH in Stevens Point on Feb. 13
