STEVENS POINT – The Almond-Bancroft boys basketball team lost their first game in the Central Wisconsin South conference after being upset by Pittsville on Feb. 7 at home.

Almond-Bancroft had a slight edge after the first half with a 27-26 lead at half time. However, a commanding second half performance by Pittsville put them over the edge in their victory over the conference leader, giving the Panthers the 63-51 upset win.

Matthew Kissner led the Panthers in scoring with 23 points. Noah Calverley scored 11 points, and Landyn Wayerski and Eric Neve each put up 10.

The Eagles were led by Seth Bunders, who scored 14 points.

Almond-Bancroft fell to 9-1 in the conference and Pittsville improved to 6-3.

Next up for Pittsville is Port Edwards on Feb. 13. Almond-Bancroft will travel to take on Gresham Community on Feb. 13.
