MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Tigers boys basketball hosted D.C. Everest on Feb. 7 in a battle for the sole spot atop the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

D.C. Everest quickly took the lead against Marshfield and maintained it into the halftime break with a 40-24 lead.

During the second half, D.C. Everest proved again to be too much for the Tigers. The Evergreens would win the game 74-50 and take the top spot in the conference.

Marshfield’s record fell to 6-3 in the conference and D.C. Everest’s record is now 7-2.

Leading the Evergreens in scoring was Bryan Halambeck, who scored 23 points, two blocks, and had six steals. Alec Stuedeman hit four 3-pointers to add his own 20 points.

Marshfield’s Anthony Posteluk scored 15 points for the Tigers and teammate Joey Goettl had 12.

Marshfield will head to Wausau East on Feb. 13 for a conference game. D.C. Everest will face Chippewa Falls away on Feb. 11 and host SPASH on Feb. 13.
