Loyal girls win battle for second place over Colby

MARSHFIELD – The Loyal Greyhounds girls basketball team hosted Colby on Feb. 4. The two teams were tied for second in the Cloverbelt conference. Loyal won the close battle and grabbed the second place spot.
The first half was filled with back and forth lead changes and ties. The first half ended with Loyal up by two, 24-22. The second half proved to be just as intense with Loyal coming out the victor, 51-49.
Senior Remi Geiger, of Loyal was high scorer for the night with 25 points for her Loyal team. Savannah Schley added 13 points in the victory.
Colby was led by Lexie Krebsbach and Emma Peavey, who each had 16 points for the Hornets. Hailey Voelker had 11 points for Colby.
Loyal moved to 14-3 overall and 10-2 in the conference. Colby fell to 11-6 overall and 9-4 in conference action.
