Pittsville girls win thriller over Almond-Bancroft

PITTSVILLE – The Pittsville girls basketball team made a second half comeback to win a thrilling Central Wisconsin Conference game against Almond-Bancroft, in Pittsville on Feb. 6.

The Almond-Bancroft Eagles took control early in the first half and had a demanding lead until the last few minutes of the half when Pittsville started to slowly decrease that lead. The Eagles lead at halftime, 26-21.

Pittsville had their rally caps on in the second half and made an impressive comeback that would come down to the final minute of the game, where Pittsville took the lead and ended the game with a 49-48 victory.

Leading the Panthers in scoring were Madalyn Carpenter with 14 points, Haylee Zawislan with 11, and Julia Redmond with 10.

Stats were not available for Almond-Bancroft.

Pittsville’s conference record improved to 4-6, while Almond-Bancroft fell to 5-4.

Pittsville with host Port Edwards on Feb. 14. Almond-Bancroft will face Wild Rose on Feb. 10 and will host Gresham Community on Feb. 14.
