NEILLSVILLE, WI (WSAU) — It’s the grand opening on Feb. 1 for a new interactive exhibit called the “Vietnam Experience” at The Highground Veterans Memorial Park near Neillsville.
Theresa Hebert from The Highground Museum says items in the exhibit are meant to capture the many emotions associated with the war.
“We are showing the items and the history of the Vietnam War, but so much of it is what the men and women experienced, and also what the country experienced and those that had family members serving. What they went through as well,” she said.
“It’s got just hundreds and hundreds of items, a very full exhibit – memorabilia, artifacts from the Vietnam War, uniforms, equipment, and the Vietnam War traveling photo exhibit.”
The new exhibit also includes the chance to leave interactive messages.
“We are going to have the exhibit interactive, so it will be constantly changing, and constantly added to, as the visitors come and experience the exhibit and leave their messages for each other,” Hebert added.
Families with children are invited to attend both the exhibit and the grand opening at 1 p.m. on Saturday which are both considered to be appropriate for all ages. Schools can also book tours of the exhibit for their students.
