Pittsville gets grand win over Spencer, as Kissner hits milestone

PITTSVILLE – The Spencer boys basketball team traveled to Pittsville on Jan. 28 to face Pittsville, and the Panthers walked away with a win as one of their players hit the 1,000-point mark for the school.

Spencer started the game off with a small run, but part way through the first half, Pittsville hit their stride and never looked back.

Pittsville had a lead of 32-24 at the half and walked away with a 68-50 win.

Matthew Kissner led Pittsville with 41 points and 16 rebounds. Kissner also became the next player in Pittsville’s history to get 1,000 points, after hitting a 3-point shot in the first half.

Jordan Denniston of Pittsville hit four 3-pointers and a total of 14 points on the night.

Spencer was led by Austin Bacon, with 22 points, and Brett Kasich, with 19.

Pittsville will host Pacelli on Jan. 31, and Spencer will play Columbus on the road on Jan. 30.
