Area wrestlers compete in Sparta invite

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Tigers had three wrestlers finish in first place on Jan. 25 at the Sparta Invitational.
Hoyt Blaskowski went 4-0 and took first wrestling at 126 pounds. Gabe Pugh went 3-0 and took first at 138. Ryan Dolezal went 3-0 with a bye in the championship round to finish in first place at 145.
Shane Westerhausen went 3-3 and took third wrestling at 113. Brett Franklin went 3-1 and finished in third place at 132. At 152 pounds, Garrett Willuweit took third, going 2-1 with a bye in the championship round.
Camren Dennee went 4-1 and took fifth place wrestling at 160. Also at 160, Cody Weix went 1-2. Alex Westlund went 2-2 at 106 and finished in sixth. Alex Simon took sixth at 182. Ethan Herman went 2-3 and finished eighth at 145. Jayden Wilhelm went 0-2 at 170.
Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal had two wrestlers grab first-place finishes at the Sparta Invite. At 170 pounds, Nathan Buchanan went 4-0 and took first. Gunner Hoffmann finished first at 220.
Luke Dux finished in second place wrestling at 106. Jayme Zvolena took second at 126. Gage Ludovic went 2-1 and finished in third place at 120. Jarrick Young went 1-2 on the day and took fourth at 113. Dan Polzin had a fifth-place finish wrestling at 182.
N-G-L also had three wrestlers capture sixth-place finishes—Keeghan Anding at 132, Carter Schoengarth at 152, and Tommy Friemoth at 160. A seventh-place finish went to Garrett Learman wrestling at 138 pounds. Tucker Bethea went 1-2 on the day at 145. Dan Polzin went 0-3 at 195.
