MARSHFIELD – The UWSP at Marshfield Marauders were back to their winning ways after defeating UWO – Fond du Lac, 92-74.

The Marauders were able to get off to a fast start and a big lead before the Falcons switched to a zone and caused some problems. The Falcons found themselves down 16 before switching their defense to a zone.  The zone caused some problems for the Marauders which led to some turnovers and easy buckets for the Falcons.

The Marauders were able to regroup and hold a 43-37 lead going into the half.

Coming out of the half, Ethan Posteluk (Marshfield Senior High) caught fire fast. Posteluk drilled three consecutive three pointers and before the Falcons knew what hit them, the Marauders built their lead back up to 20.

When Posteluk wasn’t hitting a three, he was creating opportunities for others to take their turn in drilling corner threes. Matthew Roth (Colby), Colton Wright (Auburndale), Jack Bezlyk (Spencer), and Joey Miller (Columbus) all took turns hitting shots from deep.

The Marauders built their lead to over 20 before one last push back by the Falcons closed the gap to 12, but it wasn’t enough to claw all the back as the Marauders were able to stop the run and finish strong.

Leading the way for the Marauders was Posteluk, with a season high 28 points which included five 3-pointers. Colton Wright finished with 21 points and clamped down defensively on the Falcons star player. Jack Bezlyk chipped in with 14 points, and Joey Miller finished with 10 points.
