Colby beats Spencer in conference matchup

SPENCER — The Colby girls basketball team beat Spencer in a Cloverbelt Conference game on Jan. 9 at Spencer High School.
Colby’s first half was dominated by Hailey Voelker, scoring 16 points, and teammate Lexi Krebsbach who added six of her own, to take the Hornets to halftime leading the Rockets, 27-20.
Spencer kept pace most of the second half but never caught up enough to take the lead. Colby won the game with a final score of 64-51.
Colby’s high scorer for the night was Hailey Voelker with 23 points and nine rebounds, Kresbach added 17 points and Emma Peavey scored 16.
Lead scorers for Spencer were Heavyn Kind with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Madison Knecht and Aryiah Schuh each added 11 points.
Colby will play at Granton in a conference game on Jan. 14, game time is 7:15 p.m. Spencer has a break until Jan. 23, when they play Columbus Catholic in Marshfield at 7:15 p.m.
