Neillsville girls go 2-0 at Auburndale Holiday Classic

AUBURNDALE – The Neillsville girls basketball team beat Auburndale in a close battle, to finish out 2-0 in Auburndale’s Holiday Classic, held Dec. 27-28 at Auburndale High School.
On Friday, Neillsville beat Augusta, while Loyal and Auburndale battled it out. Auburndale was the victor, with a score of 37-35, after tying 13-13 at the half.
Natalie Aue scored 17 for Auburndale. Leading Loyal was Remi Geiger with 16 points.
Loyal then took on Augusta on Dec. 28 and easily won with a score of 61-41.
High scorers for Loyal were Remi Geiger with 16 points, Savannah Schley with 13 points, and Kayla Bremmer with 11.

Neillsville and Auburndale faced off for the final game of the tournament. An exciting first half led the teams into halftime with Neillsville leading 24-22.
Neillsville was able to maintain the lead, winning 52-43.

Alli Schoengarth led Neillsville in scoring with 15 points, followed by Jaden Barth with 12 points.
Auburndale was led by Georgi Schmutzer with 15 points.
Neillsville plays next at Spencer on Jan. 3. Auburndale will face Stratford on Jan 2 at Stratford. Loyal plays next on Jan. 3 at Granton.
