Tiger girls split at home tourney

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Tigers girls basketball team split two games as part of their annual year-end tournament, held in the Boson Company Fieldhouse at Marshfield High School.
After an opening-round loss to Hudson on Dec. 27, the Tigers beat Oshkosh North the following day.
In the 43-35 loss to Hudson, the Tigers shot just 28 percent from the floor, including 1 for 16 from beyond the three-point arch. Desirae Weisenberger led Marshfield with 11 points. Kaydee Johnson grabbed eight rebounds.

The Tigers bounced back on Dec. 28 and grabbed a 48-36 win over Oshkosh North. Marshfield jumped out to a 23-14 halftime lead. Weisenberger again led the team in scoring with 15. Freshman Danielle Minsaas added 14 points. Johnson had 10. The Tigers improved their record to 3-4 with the win.
Marshfield will host D.C. Everest on Jan. 3 and Chippewa Fall on Jan. 7, followed by road games at Wausau East, Wausau West, and Rhinelander Jan. 10, 13, and 17.
