George J. Milich

George J. Milich, 91, Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 in the emergency room at Marshfield Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Barry Saylor will officiate. Burial will be in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Town of Richfield, Wood County, at a later date. Following the service, military rites will be conducted at the American Legion Clubhouse by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

George was born on August 31, 1928 in Chicago, to Mike and Anna (Heinzen) Milich. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He married Barbara E. Specht on November 28, 1959 in Tomah.

He had been employed at Weyerhaeuser Company, Marshfield until his retirement. He then began working as a custodian for the Marshfield School District for a number of years. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed softball, golf and bowling, playing cards with friends at the Senior Center and playing games with grandchildren. He took part in the Wisconsin Honor Flight with his son, Tom as his sponsor. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council #1799 and the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield.

He is survived by his wife, Barb, and their children, Sara (Tom) Daul of New Richmond, Steven (Dana) Milich, Tim (Tammy) Milich and Tom Milich, all of Marshfield and Scott (Mindy) Milich of New Richmond. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Jenna, Ryan, McKenzie, Aaron, Caleb and Tyler, and 3 great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Madelyn and Kailey.

He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Evelyn Milich of Belvidere, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Val Milich and 2 sisters, Shirley Barwineck and Lucille Baierl.

In lieu of flowers, the family will designate a memorial at a later date.
